A Misty Upgrade
We’re in the process of remodeling a master bathroom in a home in Misty Creek Country Club. The overall goal of the project is to lighten up the space and remove a garden tub that the homeowner never used since it was so much of a slip hazard. In place of this tub, the homeowners want more of a seating area and a larger space for the vanity. The removal of the tub gives them a much more functional usage of the space. We’re also going to bring more of a transitional design into their master bath to make it fresh and coastal, a much more comfortable lifestyle.
Protection Protocol
Before we get into the actual process of remodeling this bathroom (and any space for that matter), we do protection protocol. This important first step keeps your home and belongings protected. Our protection protocol process includes protecting the floors.
For this Misty Creek project, we’re only touching the master bathroom, but there’s an entire living room between it and the front door. There’s going to be a lot of people going in and out, so that’s why we first put down Ram Board to protect the floors. Ram Board is heavy-duty, breathable, temporary floor protection engineered for contractors. It rolls out flat and protects your floor against things like paint, water, dust, and any nicks. We tape down the edges for extra protection to keep anything from getting underneath.
Apart from the floors, we’re also going to protect your furniture and any wall hangings like mirrors or paintings. This homeowner has a chandelier in the entryway, so we made sure to cover this to keep anything from banging into it.
> Keeping Your Remodeling Project on Schedule
Finally, we build a protective wall around the remodeling zone that reaches from floor to ceiling. We tape the edges to the wall to keep any dust from getting into any other areas of the home, especially the areas the homeowner is still living in. These wall systems have zippers, so you can still access the construction area of your home. For this project, we put up a wall in the kitchen and master bedroom entryways for easy access. These walls really help reduce the amount of dust that comes with any remodeling project.
We go the distance in making sure everything in your home is protected properly, no matter how small the project is. For example, if you have beautiful paintings or artwork nearby, we really pay close attention to those details to keep them protected. It’s so important to protect your home and taking the time up front to truly protect your space helps everything run smoothly and more efficiently in the project overall.
