1999 vs. 2022 Luxury

A luxurious indoor living space must have an equally luxurious gourmet kitchen. With a kitchen untouched since the home on Sarasota’s Bird Key was built in 1999, the homeowners decided it was time to chase after a much more luxurious kitchen that reflects modern luxury rather than what was considered luxury more than 20 years ago. That’s where the Cabex team comes in. With designs finalized, we’re about to start this project that not only will upgrade the kitchen into 2022 modern, but a bar and butler’s pantry as well.

Kitchen with cherry cabinets and gray walllpaper

From Cherry to Cashmere

In the kitchen, we’re basically updating in place here; all that’s really changing is the removal of the wallpaper (yes, wallpaper is popular now, but the wallpaper already here is definitely outdated) and the inclusion of a cabinet on the sitting side of the island. Apart from that, it’s basically a teardown-and-replace remodel.

The cherry hardwood cabinets with brown glazing are coming out and will be replaced with high-end Elmwood Custom Cabinetry. The uppers and lowers will have a White Cashmere finish. A clean white will definitely brighten up this entire space compared to the shadows cast from the dark cherry cabinetry and dark wallpaper. Then the island cabinets and the hood will have a Tobacco finish.

As for the tile, the countertops will be a clean-looking granite/quartzite called Fantasy White. The backsplash will be a brick pattern of Titan Ivory Touch. This white quartzite will be a huge contrast to the grayish, almost green granite countertops and backsplash that’s in the kitchen now.

Tobacco at the Bar

Sliding across the living room, we enter the small bar area (pictured below). We’re going to be cutting down the higher angled wall to match the rest of the bar height to open up the bar. We’re installing Elmwood cabinets here too, also in a Tobacco finish. They’re going to match perfectly with the kitchen.

We won’t be putting in a new backsplash here, but there will be new wall tile called Wanderlust White. The other change here will be the new stone flooring called Leisure Beige, described as interpreting soft sandstone in modern hues.

The Butler’s Pantry

The final part of our remodel will take place in the butler’s pantry (pictured above). It’s a smaller space, but with the addition of the same Tobacco cabinets and Fantasy White quartzite as in the kitchen, there’s no doubt it’s going to look much larger and more luxurious. This is a home that definitely deserves 2022 luxury.
