Opposite Ends of the Hourglass

Our newest remodeling project takes place in Venice’s Hourglass Lakes, and just like two different ends to an hourglass, our remodeling journey will give the home’s two bathrooms two extremely different designs.

On one end of the hourglass will be a moody, inky space with a golden Zen atmosphere; the other end will be a fresh and shimmering coastal spa with seashell accents scattered throughout. We’re just about to begin the remodel, but we can share the designs and the proposed finish product to you right now.

The Current Layout & What’s to Come

This two-bedroom and two-bathroom single-family home was built in the early 1980s. The Cabex team will only be touching the master bathroom and the guest bathroom; they’re going to look completely different once we’re finished.

The master bath currently has a shower with a sliding glass door and a wall-length mirror overlooking a countertop with two sinks. This outdated look is going to change into a coastal bathroom with a new glass door, a bigger storage area, a shower bench, a cabinet in between the two sinks, and a beautiful waterfall accent on the shower wall.

The guest bath currently has a walk-in tub, perfect for those homeowners who wish to have an “aging in place” concept. This will be replaced with a cleaner, sleeker walk-in shower with a single pane of glass serving as the partition to the rest of the bathroom, which includes a black toilet, matte black appliances, and a stunning wall-to-ceiling mural.

The Coastal Master

After we’re finished with the project, the first thing you’ll see when you walk into the master bath is a clear view of a feature stripe waterfall on the back wall of the shower. This standout tile will match the tile in the niche right beside it. The shower will also newly feature body jets, a floating shower bench, and porcelain walls. The shower floor will be a mosaic version of the main floor, Antalya Gray.

Medallion Cabinetry will serve as the vanity and cabinetry, and seashell-inspired specialty glass vessel sinks will bookend a floating cabinet above the quartz countertop. The focal point of the space will be a print of a mural called Seashells Washed Ashore.

The Zen Guest

Like tipping the hourglass over, the coastal design of the master bath sifts away as we cross the home over to the smaller guest bath. This design will be completely different. Black is the reigning color here. Matte black appliances, a black toilet, black Medallion cabinetry, a black quartz countertop, and tiles called Black Eternity shimmer together to create a Zen paradise.

The old jacuzzi walk-in tub will become a sleek walk-in shower with porcelain walls and a lime rock herringbone floor. Behind the mirror and medicine cabinet over the sink will be an accent wall of split-faced tile. The big eye-catcher here will be the floor-to-ceiling wallpaper print mural of the Golden Buddha (see below).
