What Will the Future Hold?
With eco-friendly homes continuing to become more common and the plan for more green energy around the world going into effect today, it’s a fact that our homes are going to look pretty different 30 years in the future. As the size of technology becomes smaller, designers will have the luxury of more space to play around with. Homeowners will occupy more space with a lower carbon footprint, and sustainability and information will maybe be some of the biggest highlights around the home.
Solar Sanctuary
Solar-based energy will become more important and used by most homes because of its eco-friendly solution. Energy-concentrated materials such as cement could possibly be replaced with hollow wood and earth.
Naturally Nature
Nature-inspired designs are already a popular trend when it comes to home designs. It looks like the trend won’t be going away any time soon as there will most likely be a desire for a more environmentally friendly mentality. Indoor plants will still be used and maybe even virtual reality windows that project holographic scenery onto a wall (cool!). Air humidifiers will be integrated into most homes, but it would depend on where you live. For example, those urban areas will likely need cleaner air solutions because of the growing population and pollution. On the other hand, rural areas won’t need humidifiers due to less pollution.
So Smart
There are already a lot of smart gadgets out there that help make our homes more functional and connected. Experts say the future might not be dependent on single devices that do the work for us. The whole setup of tech homes looks like it will evolve with smart-technology interiors. The internet will also become fully integrated into every room, as well as home automation like space-saving furniture to allow for those VR activities.
Functional Furniture
We’re already shifting our work, school, gym, and leisure time to our homes. Because of this, both indoor and outdoor furniture will be built for function in the future. Chairs will be designed with efficiency and comfort in mind to make working at home even easier. Chairs might provide adaptive feedback to the TV, allowing for homeowners to get an augmented reality experience. We might even see a desk that converts into a dining room table and seating that could be disassembled from a comfortable sofa to allow for socially distanced seating. Comfort and technology will work hand in hand.
